Today as I was pondering the official rules and I had a, "oh my word, I am actually going to do this!" moment and then I got really excited. Yes it still seems uber crazy to me, but I am so excited to see how this will all turn out. So here it is the official rules:
I am really excited about this goal for 2016 and I am excited to be able to focus on eating foods that give my body energy and the strength it needs to get through each day. I love that every year seems to get better and better and I become more like the person that I want to be. It's just exciting! If I am going to be honest this challenge sounds a little crazy and slightly impossible to me but it is something that I have a really strong desire to do. Starting January 1st I am not going to eat any sweet treats or overly sugary foods for the duration of 2016! I haven't decided yet if there will be any cheat days like birthdays or maybe dates, but I will solidify the rules before the end of the year.
This challenge literally seems crazy to me because ever since I can remember I have loved and consumed sugar in large quantities. There was a period during my senior year of high school where I exercised a lot of self-control and I would only have sugar once a week and I would only eat a very small amount. It was a pretty good time health wise, but then I moved off to college and lost complete control all over again. If I am going to be honest with you, I think that my relationship with sugar is super unhealthy. I would venture to say that it could be considered an addiction at this point. That is the real reason behind this challenge: I want control again. I want to prove to myself that I can exercise self-control and I know that if I stopped eating sugar that my health would improve in many other areas as well! I have some other goals for 2016 as well but I will share those in a post a little closer to New Years. I wouldn't call them resolutions per se but more like life style changes that I would like to apply in 2016. I have a really good feeling about this next year! Maybe it is the year that I might actually try adulting but we will see.... Anyways stay tuned for updates on the good ole sugar challenge. I will write a list of rules that I must adhere to and some other goals that will accompany this challenge. Although I think it is crazy I am pretty excited about it and to see the effects it may have on my life! |
